We started our unit by dissecting owl pellets online, read a book about barn owls, then we read and discussed a paper that told more about owls. As a final activity, we dissected real owl pellets using toothpicks and magnifying glasses. We found small bird skulls identified by the beak, various bones and lots of hair.
AWESOME!! You are very brave students!-Mrs. V
ReplyDeleteThe owl unit is one of my favorites! Usually, we have started hearing the Barred owls calling "Who Cooks For You" around our house by now, but I haven't really noticed them yet. I wonder what they are doing?
ReplyDeleteHave fun learning about owls!
